Kennydale Beach Park
If you live near Renton, WA, you should definitely check out Kennydale Beach Park. The whole family can stay active and enjoy the great summer weather. At Kennydale, you’ll find nearly two miles of sand and water along the shores of Lake Washington. Scenic views and a nautical theme help to get everyone into the spirit of outdoor fun. The Surgeon General recommends between 30 and 90 minutes of exercise per day. You’re likely to get in a week’s worth of activity without feeling tired or stressed thanks to the gorgeous water views.
The well-defined swimming area has a pier and log boom to help kids and adults stay within the supervised areas. Whether you want to swim or enjoy the warm sunshine, you’re sure to enjoy your day at Kennydale Beach Park. Additionally, lifeguards are on duty from noon to 8 p.m. to keep everyone safe.
Canoe and Kayak Launch
Canoers and kayakers can paddle around on Washington Lake after launching from the designated area on the south side of the pier. Watch the sun glint off the water, get in some vigorous upper arm exercise by rowing around or float lazily as you catch up with friends or your significant other. Many people have made canoeing and kayaking a summer tradition by visiting Kennydale Beach Park often.
Tommy the Turtle Now Lives at Kennydale Beach Park!
Tommy the Turtle is a concrete replica of a turtle that visitors can enjoy as they spend time together by the water. Tommy has moved around a bit since he was first installed outside the local Sears and Newberry’s stores in the ’60s. For a while, Tommy indulged his bookish side at the Renton Highlands Public Library. Now, residents of Renton can come to see Tommy at Kennydale Beach Park’s play area. Tommy enjoys water views of Lake Washington and loves it when visitors remember to say hi before heading home!
